The UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and Department of Political Science present the first Victor Jones Memorial Lecture on Metropolitan Governance. The speaker will be Mr. Ruben Barrales, Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs & Deputy Assistant to President George W. Bush.
The title of the event is "Federalism in the 21st Century: A White House Perspective on the Challenges and Opportunities of Intergovernmental Relations".
Mr. Barrales serves as the President's liaison to state and local elected officials. He is responsible for maintaining a close working partnership between the White House and the nation's governors, legislators and local officials.
The Victor Jones Memorial Lecture on Metropolitan Governance brings to the Berkeley campus distinguished speakers on the topic of regional affairs, urban studies, federalism, comparative government, metropolitan and local administration, and intergovernmental relations.
