The live event will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2003, 7:30 pm in Sibley Auditorium, Bechtel Engineering Center, UC Berkeley. The webcast archive will be available for on-demand viewing about one week after the event.
Mr. Kiesling has recently resigned (February 27, 2003) from the US State Department in protest over the conduct of the administration's foreign policy and the looming war in Iraq. He has just returned to the U.S. and will discuss the reasons for his drastic action and offer insights into the future of American foreign policy.
Mr. Kiesling was in the Foreign Service for 20 years and is a career diplomat who has served in the United States embassies in Greece, Armenia, Morocco and Tel Aviv. He holds a Masters' degree in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archeology from UC Berkeley.
